5/19/2008 Lisa Ann Schleipfer Kenny Chesney win 4th ACM Entertainer of the Year Award Country Music superstar Kenny Chesney is the proud papa of quadruple Entertainer of the Year trophies, as he picked up his fourth consecutive Entertainer award at Sunday night’s 43rd Annual Academy of Country Music awards ceremony. "This one is really extra special because long before I had a hit record, the fans always came to the shows. I want to thank you guys for voting and for being there for me," Chesney said. The Entertainer of the Year Award winner was determined by fan votes for the first time this year. Chesney is currently feeling the heat after he criticized the changes to the ACM award's voting process. Chesney now ties Garth Brooks, who also had four consecutive wins in this category. Sights for next year should be set on tying Alabama—the group holds the record for winning the top award five consecutive times. Country Music sweetheart Carrie Underwood took home the trophy for Top Female Vocalist. Accepting the award she said, “Wow. God is good! God is good! I would like to thank the most wonderful family in the world. I have great parents, great sisters, great family…. There are so many people who have done so many wonderful things for me, and I know I don’t deserve it. But I’ll take it! Oh, fans! Thank you fans! Duh! Fans got me everything that I have and I owe everything to you, so thank you fans." Brad Paisley collected two awards, Top Male Vocalist and Video of the Year for "Online." The Country star thanked his wife, actress Kimberly Williams, and his son for inspiring him as an artist. "I am so honored to carry the torch another year, and thank God for all the blessings in my life," he said. Country Music duo Sugarland also collected two awards for their hit "Stay": Single Record of the Year and Song of the Year. The latter honor prompted a tearful thank you from writer Jennifer Nettles, saying, "It means so much to me that you guys really relate to this song and that you accept it. Thank you so much to my partner Kristian Bush and to Gail Gelman [manager] for believing in this song before anybody did." Bush and Nettles missed out on the Duo of the Year trophy…it went to the popular Country act, Brooks and Dunn. A surprised Miranda Lambert walked away with Album of the Year for Crazy Ex Girlfriend and Garth Brooks received the 2008 Country Music Crystal Milestone Award.
