Carrie Underwood’s “Cowboy Casanova” Knows How To Attract Listeners
Carrie Underwood’s “Cowboy Casanova” was the #1 digital single last week with just over 110,000 downloads. Carrie’s isn’t just the only country artist to do that this year, but she has done it twice. Her first was the American Idol farewell theme song “Home Sweet Home”. Keep it up Carrie and you might replace Martina McBride as my favorite female country singer. Oh God I hope Martina’s not reading this.
 
Daily & Vincent Win Big At IBMA Awards
The duo of Daily & Vincent were the biggest winners at last week’s International Bluegrass Music awards held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. They won Entertainer of the Year and Vocal Group Of The Year. One of the happiest winners was comedian/actor turned bluegrass musician Steve Martin. He won for best liners and best graphic design. Martin said, “This is one of the greatest thrills of my life, to be here on this show and visit with these great musicians,”. Real funny Steve.
 
Vince Gill Gets Will Rogers Award
It’s an Oklahoma thing (Vince is from there) and I don’t know that much about it, but it also benefits a charity so that’s good. There Vince is your Webb plug for the week. He sings like a girl you know.
 
The Grand Ole Opry Is Old
84 years old to be exact and they’re celebrating the weekend of October 9 and 10. The celebration includes backstage tours, an Opry birthday party on the plaza outside the Grand Ole Opry House, three shows, and a concert by Larry Gatlin and The Gatlin Brothers. Are they 84 too?
 
Josh Turner Says “Why Don’t We Just Dance”?
The new video for Josh Turner’s new single, “Why Don’t We Just Dance”, premieres today, Monday 10/5, on GAC-TV. Josh says the song’s message is that throughout time there’s always been hardships, so sometimes you just gotta say “Why Don’t We Just Dance” (sic). Hey Josh, why don’t we just use a question mark when we ask a question?
