Over 75,000 Nashville public school students were generously given more than $1 million from the 2008 CMA Music Festival as part of CMA’s “Keep the Music Playing” program.Kix-BrooksKix-Brooks While participating in the annual Artist Luncheon during the Country Radio Seminar, CMA representatives announced their contribution to the program as well as the overall success that has come about through the program.  In total, $2,245,421 has been donated to the Nashville public school system, creating numerous musical opportunities for public school children to enjoy and learn from while still in school. "As an artist, it is gratifying to know that we can come together with our fans and raise more than one million dollars to benefit music education in Nashville," said Kix Brooks, of Brooks and Dunn and Chairman of the CMA Artist Relations Committee. Since the foundation of the “Keep the Music Playing” program in 2001, CMA has donated half of the proceeds to charity.  Though the artists perform for free, in the first 4 years of festival history, CMA has donated over $800,000 to countless charitable organizations.  This year’s annual festival is to be held from June 11 to the 14 in downtown Nashville.  Tickets for 2009 CMA Music Festival are available now.
