1/24/2008 Stephen L. Betts LeAnn Rimes, who’s getting ready to host the Colgate Country Showdown Finals tonight (1/24) at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, says she treasures the good times she has with her girlfriends, adding that her latest single, “A Good Friend and a Glass of Wine,” was written from personal experience. While it was one of the last songs she wrote for the album Family, LeAnn says the title actually came to her about four years ago when she was on a plane in the middle of a long and crazy tour. “I wrote in my journal: ‘I really need a good friend and glass of wine right now and everything will be fine for the moment.’” LeAnn says when she was trying to write a catchy, fun, girl anthem, the title came back to her. She co-wrote the song with Darrell Brown and Blair Daly, and says now, “It was probably one of the most fun songs on the record and definitely a chick anthem, but everybody can pretty much relate to the song.”
