Kenny's "Keg" Untapped in Tuscaloosa
2/13/2008 When word of Kenny Chesney's “Keg in the Closet” show scheduled for the Jupiter Bar & Grille in Tuscaloosa, AL, was leaked, the singer was forced to cancel the event. Apparently, information about the impending appearance was hacked off an inactive page on the bar's website and ended up in the comment portion of Kenny's website. Kenny says he was forced to cancel because a small club like that couldn’t handle the kind of crowd that would show up if it were common knowledge ahead of time that he and his band were going to be playing. “If it gets too out of control, we just can't do it,” says Kenny. “I mean, the spirit of this has always been for me and the guys to get out, get a little sloppy, play a bunch of songs we love and have a good time. It's supposed to be loose, easy and in the moment.” For the past five years, Kenny has played local bars at Auburn, Florida State, Louisiana State, Mississippi State, and the Universities of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Virginia, and Virginia Tech, as well as a couple of small clubs in the Florida Keys, after which he donates the money from the door to local charities.
