Country Music Band Alabama Recognized In Hometown

6/3/2008 Sandy Paul The city of Fort Payne, Ala., is honoring Country Music band Alabama by unveiling bronze statues of the artists on June 7 in the city’s downtown park. Founding member of the band Jeff Cook is attending the unveiling, which is open to the public at 11 a.m. “It’s a great honor to be recognized by our home town in such an elaborate way,” said Cook. “I want to personally express my gratitude to all the people involved in making this happen. Thank you, Fort Payne.” Alabama has won over 150 industry awards including two Grammy Awards, eight CMA Entertainer of the Year Awards, two People’s Choice Awards, and it has its very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2005, Cook and Alabama were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Cook and his Allstar Goodtime Band will perform a free concert at the Dekalb Theatre in Fort Payne after the ceremony. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the concert begins an hour later.
