Singer-songwriter Todd Snider blends comedy, remakes and politics in his coming release, Peace Queer, set to hit stores Oct. 14. The eight-track is a follow-up to Snider's successful last album, The Devil You Know. The surprise on the album is a remake of the 1969 Creedence Clearwater Revival classic, "Fortunate Son," reformed into an acoustic blues track. "I thought of all those kids who went off to war because they were told they were defending our freedoms," Snider said. "Then they come home sad and banged-up and angry 'winners.'"Songwriter Patty Griffin contributes harmonies to the "Fortunate Son," with contributors Kevn Kinney, Don Heron, Doug Lancio and Will Kimbrough also found on Peace Queer.
