On Sept. 25, Kentucky will host the world’s largest sporting event of the year, and Wynonna Judd will be there to welcome them home.

The Country Music veteran will sing "My Old Kentucky Home" as part of the opening ceremonies for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

“I could not be more thrilled to have the opportunity to return home to my roots,” said Judd, a Kentucky native. “Kentucky holds such a sacred place in my heart and to have this honor to share the home I so dearly love with my friends and family brings me great joy.”

The 2010 games will welcome friends and visitors from around the world, making for quite an international flare. But Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear said that Judd has what it takes to add that hometown spice to such a diverse audience.

Other representatives for the games echo the governor’s words.

“This song, with this artist, in a stadium of 30,000 spectators, is going to create a magical moment for everyone, regardless of their home state or country,” said Dr. Everett McCorvey, whose company, Global Creative Connection, is producing the ceremonies. “Wynonna represents but one of many different genres to be showcased in our ceremonies, and we are so honored to have her.”

Other performers for the opening ceremony will be announced throughout the Spring. Keep checking back with CountryHound to see if any other Country Music names make the cut.
