The station will be playing all Kenny all weekend, starting Friday at 5 p.m. and ending Sunday morning. The show in Chicago is sold-out, as the Poets & Pirates Tour is turning into one of the biggest in 2008. Chesney’s tour has sold out in multiple venues and he played to almost 46,000 people in Pittsburgh last week. Chesney realizes the impact he’s having on not only country music, but on all fans of music in general. With special guests like Steve Miller, Dave Matthews and Sammy Hagar, he has been able to extend the power of his music and create more excitement at his shows. In a statement from Sony, Chesney talks about how country can cross genres and still stay true to its roots.  “I think people make too much of what country was, and they miss what it is right now,” said Chesney. “You know, like most people, I was raised on all kinds of music, and I see the overlap – and I know what excites me. To bring those elements into country, well, that only makes it stronger! You know, it’s not just about where we’re coming from… it’s about keeping country strong, keeping it something that speaks to people.”
