10/19/2007 Stephen L. Betts Willie Nelson’s sister, Bobbie Nelson, is making her solo recording debut at 76 years old, with the release of the album, Audiobiography, on Justice Records. The 12-song collection has Bobbie telling her life story with her piano, playing some of her favorite songs. Two of the tracks feature her brother Willie singing and playing guitar with her. Bobbie Nelson stepped into the solo spotlight after longtime family friend Randall Jamail, founder and A&R Director of Justice Records, asked her if she had ever considered writing her autobiography. She replied the only way to tell her life story would be through music. So he offered her the chance to do so with an album on his label. “When we were talking about it, I never thought at the time it would be something I would really do,” says Bobbie. “I guess I’ve always been a little shy about that. But then Willie also suggested that I do it, and that seemed to be the point where I got really serious about it.” “It's long overdue,” says Willie, who accompanied Bobbie on recent television appearances, including The Tonight Show. “Whenever our band plays, Sister Bobbie is the best musician on the stage.” Willie says the musical bond they forged playing together since childhood is so strong that “she knows what I'm going to do even before I do sometimes.” Bobbie Nelson has been playing songs from Audiobiograpy in concert as a featured segment of Willie Nelson & Family shows. “There's just no way to explain how lucky I am to have a good musician in the family,” Willie says. “Whenever I've needed a piano player, I've had Sister Bobbie right there.”
