3/11/2008 Staff The Volunteer Jam 2008, with a history dating back to 1974, kicks off April 11th in Harris, MI, and includes 30 cities.  This year’s lineup includes, of course, The Charlie Daniels Band, as well as Shooter Jennings and 38 Special. The Volunteer Jam started in 1974 when Daniels decided to record two songs live in concert and chose an auditorium in Nashville. In a nod to the Volunteer State (Tennessee for those of you who haven’t been blinded by the orange before), the CDB called the concert the Volunteer Jam and invited a few friends to join them.  "We had such a good time, we decided we should do this once in while," says Daniels.  The Volunteer Jam continues to roll on.   Entering into 50 years of making music, Charlie Daniels has scored hits on the rock, pop, Christian, and country charts and counts awards from the Country Music Association (CMA), Academy of Country Music (ACM), TNN/Music City News Awards, and the Gospel Music Association (GMA) among his many accolades. His signature song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," topped both country and pop charts, bringing him international acclaim.  Daniels' current Blue Hat/Koch Records CD release, Deuces, is his first duet album and features guest artists Travis Tritt; Bonnie Bramlett; Gretchen Wilson; Vince Gill; Earl, Gary & Randy Scruggs; Dolly Parton; Darius Rucker; The Del McCoury Band; Brenda Lee; Brooks & Dunn; Marty Stuart; Montgomery Gentry; and Brad Paisley. After more than two decades together, 38 Special is still playing more than 100 shows per year.  And at every one of them, thousands of audience members are completely blindsided by the power and muscle of the band's performance. "When we come out, people are like, 'Whoa! It's like a freight train rolling over them...'" says vocalist/guitarist Don Barnes. Singer/Songwriter Shooter Jennings' third studio album, The Wolf received mass critical acclaim by the nation's top music critics who described the album as a "stirring blend of tough rockers and heart-on-the-sleeve country" (American Songwriter).  This year’s tour dates are: 4-11-08       Harris, MI - Island Resort & Casino  4-12-08       Harris, MI - Island Resort & Casino 4-18-08       West Palm Beach, FL - Cruzan Amphitheatre 4-19-08       Winger Haven, FL - Cypress Gardens 4-24-08       Bartlesville, OK - Million Dollar Elm Casino 4-25-08       Fayetteville, AR - Dickson Street Music Festival 4-26-08       Kinder, LA - Coushatta Casino Resort 5-9-08         Lake Buena Vista, FL - House of Blues 5-10-08       Valdosta, GA - Wild Adventures 5-16-08       N.
