9/21/2007 Stephen L. Betts The Mike Curb Family Foundation, Belmont University and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Foundation have partnered to turn the old Sony/Nashville building on Music Row into a physical Hall of Fame and home for a new songwriting major offered by Belmont. On hand for the announcement in Nashville earlier this week, Dolly Parton humorously expressed her desire to die onstage in mid-song ("hopefully one of mine!," she quipped). When Curb Records founder Mike Curb commented that Dolly should have won the Oscar for Best Song in 2006, she responded, "It's hard out here for a pimp!" - a reference to the song that won the award. It was also announced that songwriters Thom Schuyler (“16th Avenue”) and Bob Regan (“Your Everything”) will be adjunct Belmont University professors, teaching the first class of currently enrolled songwriting majors.
