Country music’s favorite uncle is in Nashville to work on a new album set for a summer release.

Uncle Kracker mentions his fifth studio album will showcase a more personal side of the songwriter than his past albums have.

"I'm kind of excited -- actually, the most excited I’ve been in a long time,” he said. “The overall goal this time was to go in and have fun."

Reportedly, Uncle Kracker has already penned more than twenty songs for the upcoming album.

Songwriters J.T. Harding and Shane McAnally have collaborated with Uncle Kracker on several songs, and Keith Stegall will produce the project.

Uncle Kracker came onto the scene with a pop persona, but over the years has realized his potential within country music.

“Right now, pop songs don’t make sense and country songs do,” he said.  “If it wasn’t for country radio, I really wouldn’t have many other outlets.”

Uncle Kracker will continue to work on the album until he tours with Kenny Chesney, beginning on March 17 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
