Uncle Kracker Arrested

8/17/2007 Stephen L. Betts Matthew Shafer, aka Uncle Kracker, was arrested Friday (8/17) on charges of second-degree sex offense stemming from an incident at a Raleigh, NC nightclub, authorities said. Shafer was being held on a $5 million bond after being arrested at a suburban Raleigh hotel, according to Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue. Shafer was being held in the Wake County Jail and was scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.  As Uncle Kracker, Shafer is best known to country fans for the hit duet with Kenny Chesney, “When the Sun Goes Down.”
