Singer-songwriter, Tracy Lawrence tells The Press-Enterprise about where he, and other music city songwriters find inspiration for writing a hit song.  He says several songwriters can be found in book stores, trying to scan books for interesting ideas, or even in movies. One line of a movie can turn into a great line for a song.

Tracy said, "People actually take notepads to the movie theaters and write those things down, like -- 'you had me from hello' [an iconic line from 'Jerry Maguire']. There's lines from movies that just fall out of the sky and land on you, and you just can't wait to get back to write them. Once you get that great idea, most of us are able to craft at least a decent song out of it."
Sunday, Tracy joined two other singers, Tracy Byrd and Richie McDonald (the three refer to themselves as the 'rat pack') in Lake Elsinore, California at the Wagon Wheel Country Music Festival.  Lawrence said, "The three of us can sit down for two-and-a-half, three hours ... and play nothing but hit after hit after hit after hit after hit."

Look for Tracy's third album from his indie label Rocky Mountain Comfort Records, The Rock, which debuted this summer at the Top 20 on the country charts.
