5/12/2008 Amber Garner Trace Adkins theme song "Black Gold"  Country Music singer/songwriter Trace Adkins' new song "Black Gold" will be featured as the theme song for a truTV Network show, also be called Black Gold. The show will feature the lives of roughnecks, men drilling for oil, in Texas. Adkins, now an accomplished entertainer, first worked as a roughneck and derrick man drilling for oil off the Gulf of Mexico. “We are thrilled that Trace wrote this original song for Black Gold,” said Marc Juris executive vice president and general manager of truTV. “His involvement highlights the importance of the series, how incredibly relevant it is right now with the oil crisis looming larger everyday. Trace knows that the men featured in Black Gold are drilling for oil on our soil, an important, but dangerous job, where loss of life or limb is not uncommon. His understanding of these men and what they face really comes through in his song.” Since leaving his life on an oil rig Adkins has developed a very successful life as a musician, actor and author. During his twelve years in the industry Adkins has become a member of the Grand Ole Opry, has had twenty-four hit singles and recorded seven studio albums. Adkins has made several television appearances, most recently as the runner up on Celebrity Apprentice. He is now back on the road with his 2008 American Man tour that will stop in Arizona, California, Alaska and Florida this summer. His next studio album is set to be released this fall. Black Gold will premiere Wednesday, June 18 at 10 p.m. (ET).
