Trace Adkins' Brentwood home just outside Nashville was destroyed by a fire that started in the garage Saturday afternoon June 4. No one was injured.
Adkins’ three daughters were at home with a Nanny at the time and heard a loud explosion in the garage. Adkins’ wife was nearby running errands. Adkins and his band were en route to Alaska at the time to perform.

Brentwood assistant fire chief Brian Goss said the fire apparently started in the garage. "It's difficult when it gets into the attic because it spreads quickly and it's hard to access," Goss told WSMV-TV/Nashville. "That's what we had in this case. Our primary focus, once we arrived here, was to salvage what we could out of the home."

Rhonda Adkins told WSMV that the family lost a lot of items of sentimental value, including the negatives of their wedding photos, but added, "It's just stuff."

She credited the Brentwood Fire Department for fire safety seminars presented at her children's school in educating them about what to do during an emergency. She said she had tied a yellow ribbon to a tree in their yard to designate a meeting place for the family.

"We did what those firefighters told us," she said. "We practiced it today, and it saved my kids' lives."
