Country star Trace Adkins is the inspiration for a new comic book hero. The four-issue story of “Luke McBain,” a tough Southern hero based on Adkins, will be released in November by 12 Gauge Comics.

Writer David Tischman and 12 Gauge publisher Keven Gardner spent a lot of time with the Country artist to make sure the character felt authentic.

"The McBain character became kind of a reflection of Trace Adkins' entertainment persona," noted Tischman. "It breathes a real life personality into the fictional character which is something we wanted. Trace helped a lot with that, and it's something that I think we've worked hard to write into the character."

The title character is drawn to Adkins' likeness and reflects some of the singer's philosophy. The story takes place when McBain returns home to rural Louisiana after serving 14 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. He finds himself in a town now controlled by greed and corruption, and he's the only one with the courage to set things right.

The first issue hits stores across North America in November to coincide with Adkins' tour. It will be available for $3.99 per issue in more than 4,000 comic book stores and other retail outlets.
