Toby Keith's Touching Tribute To Friend Wayman Tisdale

Toby Keith recently wrote a tribute to his friend Wayman Tisdale. The song, called “Cryin’ For Me (Wayman’s Song),” was written in response to Tisdale’s death in May.
Tisdale was an All-American basketball player from Oklahoma, and the Indiana Pacers selected him in the first round of the 1985 NBA draft. Tisdale played in the NBA for 12 years, and he was also a successful jazz bass player.
Tisdale was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2007, and he lost his leg a year later to the cancer. He was fitted with a prosthetic leg and, once he got back on his feet and his doctors released him in good health, Tisdale called up Toby to see about leasing a few tour buses so that he could “share his jazz music with the world,” according to a KFOR report.
Toby refused the lease, and instead allowed Tisdale to use the buses for free. The next day, Toby’s wife notified him that Tisdale had died.
Toby remembers Tisdale for his big smile, and he went on to say that, “he didn’t have a wall up, he was just one of the good guys,” said Toby.
When Toby heard about Tisdale’s death all he wanted to do was sleep. When he woke up, he said he went to his office, closed the door, and called Tisdale’s phone one last time to hear his voice on the recording. That gave him the inspiration to do the song "Cryin' For Me," which begins with that same recording.
