Tim Gets Intimate for Gridiron Benefit

1/18/2008 Stephen L. Betts   Tim McGraw is set to perform an intimate concert for participants of the Beyond the Lights Celebrity Golf Tournament in Austin, Texas. The tournament and concert hosted by Kyle Chandler and Brad Leland of NBC’s Friday Night Lights will take place on Friday, Mar. 7, at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort. Proceeds will benefit both the Gridiron Heroes Spinal Cord Injury Foundation and the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis. Tim appeared in the Friday Night Lights feature film in 2004, which was produced by Peter Berg, honorary Chairman of this year’s event.  In 2004, Tim, Peter, and Friday Night Lights star Billy Bob Thornton organized a benefit concert for Gridiron Heroes, which supports high school football players who’ve suffered spinal cord injuries while playing. Gridiron Heroes is a cause that has special meaning for Tim. The former high school football player says, “As a parent, there's a camaraderie that you have with other parents when something happens to their children. Your heart goes out to them.”
