When Tim McGraw made a recent appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” he revealed he and wife Faith Hill may be swapping socks this holiday season.

Even after 14 years of marriage, the Indian outlaw turned Hollywood star has trouble deciding on the perfect present for his country superstar wife.

We were both very lucky and we both had really good careers when we got married, so you go in for the big things at first,” said McGraw. “You run out of things to get, so it starts to become smaller stuff.”

But McGraw admits simple presents don’t usually do the trick on Christmas.

“Well, we know that never works – maybe a pair of socks with a diamond earring or two stuck to it…something like that. If they say, ‘Oh, you don't have to get me anything,’ you really know better. You should know better than that; if you don't, then you really won't have to worry about it next Christmas because she won't be around,” joked McGraw.

McGraw also plugged his new film “Country Strong,” which stars Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow as broken country singer Kelly Canter as she tries to resurrect her fallen career.

“Country Strong” premiered in Nashville and Los Angeles theaters this week. The flick hits theaters nationwide Jan. 7.
