The Grascals are among the elite in the Bluegrass Music world. In 2005 they put their name on the map after winning the Emerging Artist of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards. This jump started their success, as they won Entertainer of the Year in 2006 and again in 2007. They have also received a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album, as well as a Dove nomination.
Now, the most decorated and well-known Bluegrass band will release their 4th studio album, The Famous Lefty Flynn’s.
The band is made up of three vocalists, Terry Eldredge, Jamie Johnson and Terry Smith, as well as mandolin star Danny Roberts, fiddler Jeremy Abshire and banjo newcomer Kristin Scott Benson. With such a diverse group, the band is able to spotlight modern Bluegrass techniques while still maintaining deep tradition Bluegrass roots.
They showcase a wide range of songs on the new album, with ballads like ‘Satan and Grandma’ as well as more folk-songs -- ‘Out Comes the Sun.' There is also plenty of room for instrumental solos and harmonies and trios.
Just a few days before they release their new album, The Grascals will hit the road with Hank Williams Jr. as a part of his Rowdy Friends Tour. In turn, Williams joins the group for a couple cuts on the album.
