The Grand Ole Opry Turns 86 And Begins Celebrating

Grand Ole Opry Stage

The Grand Ole Opry turns 86 this month and is celebrating all throughout October. This weekend marks the Opry’s official Birthday Bash and will air on GAC during episodes of Opry Live on Saturday, Oct. 8 and Tuesday, Oct. 11.

But if you are fortunate enough to attend the events this weekend, on Friday, Jason Michael Carroll, Crystal Bowersox, Mandy Barnett, Ricky Skaggs, Connie Smith and The Whites plus many more start off the celebration. Mandy Barnett will autograph copies of her CD Sweet Dreams and her new Christmas album, Winter Wonderland, in the Opry Shop from 5:30 to 6:30 prior to the show.

On Saturday, a live performance from Jean Shepard, Charley Pride, Craig Morgan, Ronnie Dunn and Rascal Flatts will air on GAC during Opry Live. This performance will also mark Ronnie Dunn’s debut as a solo artist.

On Tuesday, Oct. 11, Chris Young, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, LeAnn Rimes, Montgomery Gentry, Sara Evans, Scotty McCreery and Trace Adkins will perform for the event. Some of the performances will broadcast live on Opry Live on GAC, while others will be filmed for an episode of Opry Live to air Oct. 29.

All the performances are streamed live on 650 AM WSM, and the episodes of Opry Live will re-air throughout the week on GAC.
