Terri Clark’s mother died Sunday night, April 4, after battling cancer for more than two years.

“She is finally at peace and out of pain, our hearts our broken, and we will miss her terribly,” Clark wrote on her Web site.
According to AOL’s The Boot, the Country singer had a special, close bond with her mother. When The Boot sat down with Clark back in 2007, shortly after her mother had been diagnosed cancer, they asked her what was the one thing in this world that she knows for sure. Clark responded she was sure her mother loved her.
“She's been such a huge part of the inspiration behind everything I'm doing now and everything I've done up until now," Clark told the Edmonton Sun of her mom last September. "If you think about the person closest to you, who has been your whole life, the one person you can't imagine not being here -- almost an extension of you, that would be my mother for me."
Clark’s mother influenced many aspects of her daughter’s life, including her personality and her profession. The Boot reported her mother’s battle with cancer was the inspiration behind many songs on Clark’s newest album, The Long Way Home, which Clark self-produced and publicized without a major label backing her.

div>"When you see someone fighting as hard as my Mom was, it strikes you the things that matter," Clark told The Boot last summer. "To her, life was everything. It was about personal integrity, her family, the things she loved about living ... and I realized I couldn't make my music for any less. My fans deserved that from me, especially after the stories they tell me about things my music's gotten them through over the years."
