11/2/2007 Stephen L. Betts Sunday’s (11/4) New York City Marathon will have a strong country music contingent. Jeff McMahon, Tim McGraw’s keyboard player, is set to lead a group of 36 Team McGraw members in the marathon. Team McGraw, which also includes Tim's fiddler Deano Brown, is running in honor of Tim’s dad, baseball star Tug McGraw, who died of brain cancer in 2004. The team, which includes brain cancer survivors and researchers, was assembled and began training after marathon officials selected the Tug McGraw Foundation as one of their charity partners,. "Basically we would get off the bus in whatever city we were in that day and put on our shoes and check with the concierge to find some sort of interesting route or running trail," Jeff tells The Tennessean. "If they didn't have any info, we just set out and followed our noses. More times than not, we found something interesting in each place we played." So far, Team McGraw has raised nearly $200,000.
