The good things keep rolling for Taylor Swift. Recently, she sold out LA’s Staples Center, which can seat about 21,000 people, in approximately 2 minutes.  And if her Fearless 2009 tour is not enough, she has made several television appearances in the past months, including Saturday Night Live, New Year’s Eve, and she performed a duet with Miley Cyrus last night at the Grammys.  Last year, Swift sold millions of albums, had several million music downloads to her credit and broke chart records. She turned down a big-name record deal because they would not let her record her own songs. According to Fletch of digitalcity.com, “Taylor Swift the brand is built to last when most of today’s acts are disposable.”Similar to Jewel, Swift writes poetry, is a singer/songwriter and has written and recorded platinum-selling records while in her teens. Her first single, “Tim McGraw,” was successful, but not mind-blowing. Still, Big Machine Records had high hopes for the young Country starlet.  Instead of dropping Swift because of her not-so-perfect debut, Big Machine held onto Swift and gave her time to develop as an artist. Clearly a wise decision.
