2009 has been quite the year for 19-year-old superstar Taylor Swift, and the 2010 Grammy Awards will be no different. The Grammy nominations were announced last night during the Grammy Nominations Concert, and Swift received eight nods, behind only Beyonce, who earned 10.
"I started freaking out and jumping up and down," Swift, who received mentions for album and record of the year, among others, told the Associated Press. "I honestly never would have predicted this, eight nominations – I'm ecstatic, and blown away and so, so thankful."
According to MTV News, Swift received the news while in a hotel room with her mom editing videos. Her producer texted the news to her: "AAUUGGH!!!!!"
"To be recognized by the Grammys is the ultimate honor, and all I know is that when I write about this in my journal tonight it will be in all capital letters and underlined four times, and there will be lots of exclamation points in this entry because I never imagined I'd get to write this kind of journal entry," Swift said.
Keith Urban also received four Grammy nominations, saying he had no idea songs on his Defying Gravity album would connect with people the way they did.
"We saw it night after night on the Escape Together Tour and to now end the year with these nominations is pure magic," he told US magazine.
George Strait, Trace Adkins, Jamey Johnson, Carrie Underwood, Lee Ann Womack and Zac Brown Band also received Grammy nominations. To see a full list, go to http://www.grammy.com/grammy_awards/52nd_show/list.aspx#08.
The 2010 Grammys will air live on CBS Jan. 31.
