While taking a break from her Fearless tour, the multi-platinum-selling Taylor Swift has been keeping busy through volunteer efforts and a new album.

Thursday, May 6, Swift pledged $500,000 to Nashville’s flood relief efforts through Vince Gill’s local telethon on WSMV.

“Being at home during the storm, I honestly could not believe what was happening to the city and the people I love so dearly,” Swift told The Associated Press in an e-mail. “Nashville is my home, and the reason why I get to do what I love. I have always been proud to be a Nashvillian, but especially now, seeing the love that runs through this city when there are people in crisis.”

Besides helping her city, Swift is using her downtime to work on her third studio album, which she hopes to release in the next few months.

“[The new album] is going great actually,” Swift said in an interview with MTV News. “I’ve been writing it for the last two years, so this summer it’s all about the finishing touches and getting in there in the studio and recording the last couple of songs.”

MTV News also asked the blonde beauty what her inspiration was for her new album. Swift replied, “What do you think? Boys and love.”

Swift went on to say her albums are personal. “When I put out an album, I’d like to think that when people listen to that album, it’s like a diary of what I’ve been through in the last two years. So it’s a really fun way to express how I feel and what I’m going through.”

Swift will perform in a benefit concert in Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on June 22 called “Nashville Rising" with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Tickets will go on sale this Friday.
