12/17/2007 Stephen L. Betts Taylor Swift reached another digital milestone this week when her hit single “Teardrops On My Guitar” was named No. 1 selling country song for 2007 by iTunes. iTunes has also released their Best of 2007 Editor’s Choice lists, naming Taylor Best New Artist. Taylor, who celebrated her 18th birthday just last week, is consistently the most popular country artist on MySpace, averaging 100,000 music streams a day on the site. Her total MySpace streams have surpassed 31 million. Taylor’s current single, “Our Song,” which she wrote by herself, is in its second week at No. 1 on the country chart and in its fourth week at No. 1 on CMT’s video chart. Taylor is the youngest person to single-handedly write and sing a chart-topping country single entirely on her own. In other chart news, Taylor’s “Teardrops on My Guitar,” which reached No. 2 on the country charts earlier this year, is No. 16 on Billboard’s Mainstream Top 40 chart this week. And her rendition of “Last Christmas,” from the Christmas EP Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection (available exclusively at Target), is No. 1 on Mediabase’s Top 25 Current Most-Played Christmas Songs.
