Taylor Has Biggest Sales Week Since Debut

Betts   With a 36 percent increase in sales from last week, Taylor Swift sold 88,342 units this week, marking her biggest sales week since the release of her self-titled debut CD in October 2006. In the three weeks since Taylor’s performance and Horizon Award win on the Nov. 7 CMA telecast, she has scanned an impressive 220,823 albums, according to Nielsen SoundScan.  Taylor is at No. 5 on Billboard’s Country Albums Sales chart, sharing the Top 5 with the new releases from superstars Garth Brooks, the Eagles, Carrie Underwood, and Keith Urban, and she’s at No. 13 on Billboard’s all-genre Top 200 Albums chart. Taylor hit another milestone this week, topping the 30-million mark for music streams on her MySpace page, just 10 days after reached the 29-million mark. Taylor is set to join Akon, Quincy Jones, and Linkin Park this week to announce nominations for the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. The press conference will be held Thursday (12/6) at 8:30 a.m. (PT), at Los Angeles’ Music Box at Fonda. The 50th Annual Grammy Awards take center stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 10, 2008, and will air live on CBS.
