Strait to the Top, Again

5/5/2008 Kasey Bell George Strait Number One Country Music superstar George Strait and his new album Troubadour have once again claimed the top spot on Billboard’s Country album chart.  Couple that with his No. 1 single, and King George is on top of the world. George’s album fell down a spot last week while Country Music group Lady Antebellum took the first spot.  Meanwhile, his hit single “I Saw God Today” is spending its second week on top of the Billboard Country single chart. Joining Troubadour on the charts is Phil Vassar’s new album, Prayer of a Common Man, which debuted at No. 3.  Rounding out the top 5 are Taylor Swift’s self-titled album, James Otto’s Sunset Man and Lady Antebellum’s self-titled debut. Only five new songs hit the Country Music singles chart, with Brooks & Dunn’s “Put a Girl in It” coming in at No. 48, Jason Aldean’s “Relentless” at No. 54 and Ashley Gearing’s “Out the Window” at No. 57. David Nail’s “I’m About to Come Alive” and Bucky Covington’s “I’ll Walk” complete the new songs, coming in at Nos. 59 and 60 respectively.  Rounding out the top five are James’ “Just Got Started Loving You,” Trace Adkins’ “You’re Gonna Miss This,” Taylor’s “Picture to Burn” and Phil’s “Love Is a Beautiful Thing.”
