Steve Earle Announces Upcoming Album Release In May

Steve Earle recently announced that his next album Townes will hit stores May 12 on New West Records. The 15 songs from the album were written by Townes Van Zandt, a legend in the music business. Earle will be joined on this album by Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and also known as The Nightwatchman, along with his wife Allison Moorer.  Earle will also be joined for the first time on this album by his son, Justin Townes Earle, who was named after Townes Van Zandt. Earle selected these songs for the album because they meant the most to him in regards to his friendship with his late friend Van Zandt. In a statement, Earle talked about how he felt about this new album. "This may be one of the best records I've ever made," said Earle. "That hurts a singer-songwriter's feelings. Then again, it's some consolation that I cherry picked through the career of one of the best songwriters that ever lived."
