Sound and Speed Event Crosses Finish Line

1/14/2008 Stephen L. Betts The 3rd Annual Sound and Speed event took place this weekend in Nashville, with NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, Jr. as one of the main attractions. After a scheduling conflict kept him away last year, he was happy to be back and was excited to meet Taylor Swift. “[We] signed autographs together, and she's really nice,” says the driver, who managed to score an autographed photo from Taylor for his niece. Craig Morgan was among the other country artists at this year's Sound and Speed event. He says country stars and NASCAR drivers have plenty in common. “Regardless of how competitive it may be, there still seems to be a very family-type atmosphere [in racing and country music].” Alan Jackson, Taylor Swift, The Wrights, and Jason Michael Carroll played the closing concert on Saturday night, and Dierks Bentley and Bucky Covington were also on hand to sign autographs during the day.
