Songwriting Seminar Spotlights CMA Winner

1/17/2008 Stephen L. Betts The Country Music Association’s Songwriter of the Year, Buddy Cannon, is slated to be one of the speakers at this year’s free Songwriting Seminar@Winterfest in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., on Feb. 23. Buddy was the co-writer of George Strait's "Give It Away," with Jamey Johnson and Bill Anderson. As a producer, he's had hits with “Single White Female” for Chely Wright, “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” for Kenny Chesney, “The Little Girl” for John Michael Montgomery and "No Place That Far" for Sara Evans. Among his hit songs are  “Set ‘Em Up Joe” for Vern Gosdin, "She's not Cryin' Anymore" for Billy Ray Cyrus and George Strait’s "I’ve Come To Expect It From You." He also co-produced Willie Nelson’s forthcoming album Moment of Forever with Kenny Chesney. Joining Buddy will be song plugger and publisher Sherrill Blackman, Moraine Music Group writer Sean Locke, and singer-songwriters Angaleena Presley and Ken Franzetta. The free seminar, held in conjunction with the City of Pigeon Forge’s Saddle Up! Celebration will take place at Music Road Hotel & Convention Center, beginning at 9 a.m. on Feb. 23.
