Jessica Simpson Returning to "Country Roots"

9/11/2007 Stephen L. Betts Jessica Simpson is reportedly trading in her pop music career to take a stab at country music. Joe Simpson, the father of the singer/actress says Jessica is talking about doing a country record and going back to her roots, being from Texas. “Everything in our business is about beats and I think she really wants to sing, and country music really believes in that. She’s a singer from top to bottom. And everything in the music business, especially pop music, has moved away from singers. And I think country is the only pure, storytelling kind of genre left.” Jessica recently finished filming Major Movie Star. She recorded Public Affair, her most recent album, in 2006. When asked if he thought his daughter would be accepted as a country singer, Joe replied, “She’s from Texas. How could she not?”
