Country sensation Shania Twain returned to her hometown of Timmins, Ontario, on Jan. 1 to participate in the Winter Olympics Torch Run. The multiple Grammy-winner carried the torch in minus 35 degree wind-chill. According to the Timmins Times, more than a thousand fans stood in the bitter cold to cheer Twain on.

After her run, the Country star described the experience as “pretty overwhelming.”
“In a way it just feels really beautiful to be back up in the north in the cold. I know that sounds crazy,” Twain told the crowd. “It wouldn’t be Timmins if it wasn’t, you know, forty below the wind-chill.”
The Winter Olympics will begin Feb. 10 in Vancouver, Canada.
