With Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood hosting the 43rd Annual CMA Awards, airing live on ABC on Nov. 11, CMA has released a star-studded lineup of renowned first round performers.
Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Reba McEntire, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban are among the first round artists scheduled for a live appearance. Paisley and Underwood will also perform their own sets.
This year, Brooks & Dunn are looking to break their own record and claim their 15th Vocal Duo of the Year Award, while Reba McEntire is once again nominated for Female Vocalist, an award she won four consecutive years from 1984-1987. Both McEntire and Brooks & Dunn have also been nominated for Musical Event for their collaboration on "Cowgirls Don't Cry."
Also up for Musical Event is Kenny Chesney and Mac McAnally for "Down The Road." Chesney continues racking up nominations including one for Male Vocalist as well as chasing his fifth Entertainer of the Year Award.
Three-time consecutive Female Vocalist from 2006-2008, Carrie Underwood has been nominated for Female Vocalist and Musical Event with Randy Travis for "I Told You So." If Underwood takes home the trophy for Female Vocalist, she will tie McEntire and Martina McBride for most consecutive wins.
After receiving his first two CMA nominations, Darius Rucker will rival several veterans in the Male Vocalist category while also celebrating a nomination for New Artist after releasing his debut Country album in 2008. Meanwhile, Sugarland returns and is up for nomination as reigning Vocal Duo as well as Best Album for Love On The Inside.
Having been given four nominations for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist, Best Album for Fearless and Best Music Video for "Love Story", Taylor Swift hopes to give at least one uninterrupted acceptance speech at this awards ceremony. At 19, she has become the youngest artist to be nominated for Entertainer of the Year.
With four nominations, including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, Music Video for "Troubadour" and Musical Event with Lee Ann Womack on "Everything But Quits," George Strait proves why he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Keith Urban is up for five nominations, Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, Best Album for Defying Gravity, as well as a Musical Event and Music Video combo with Brad Paisley for "Start A Band."
Speaking of Paisley, he stole the competition with seven nominations, including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist, Best Album for American Saturday Night and Single and Song for "Then." His collaboration with Keith Urban was also nominated for Musical Event and Music Video for "Start A Band."
