Keith Urban’s latest album, Defying Gravity, is not only topping the Billboard Country charts as the No. 1 album, but has also reached the top spot on the mainstream chart for Billboard 200, HitFix.com reported. Urban was competing with Prince’s new release, Lotusflow3r, but eventually beat the singer to the No. 1 position.
While Urban has had three of his albums land at No. 1 on the Country charts, Love, Pain & The Crazy Thing, Be Here and now Defying Gravity, this is the first time he has reached the highest spot on a mainstream chart.
Other Country acts are expected to follow Urban’s trend, as Billboard is predicting Rascal Flatts' newest album, Unstoppable, to reach No. 1 next week. Many other Country artists will probably see a boost for their albums after getting exposure from last week’s Academy of Country Music Awards as well.
