1/4/2008 Stephen L. Betts National Public Radio’s Fresh Air began 2008 with a look back on 2007, and music critic Ken Tucker hailed Sarah Johns’ debut album, Big Love in a Small Town, as a showcase for a major country music talent. Although Sarah admits that a wide array of influences (including Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Faith Hill) went into the making of the album, Tucker says the disc "isn't a mishmash of influences but a combination of consistency and eclecticism that's mighty impressive for a major label debut.”  The segment highlighted several songs from Sarah’s debut album including “The One in the Middle,” “A Lot to Let Go Of,” her new single, “He Hates Me,” “If You Could Hold Your Woman,” and the title track, “Big Love in a Small Town,” all of which she wrote. Tucker goes on to say that Sarah's big voice is capable of intimacy and ambivalence and he’s wishing her a very productive New Year for her sake and our potential pleasure. Sarah begins the New Year productively indeed, kicking off the George Strait Tour on Jan. 10 in Austin, TX.
