Sara Evans' Divorce Settled

9/28/2007 Stephen L. Betts Sara Evans and her ex-husband, Craig Schelske, are now divorced. The couple reached an agreement today in their once-bitter divorce battle. In court documents submitted Friday (9/28) attorneys for both parties stated their clients will "have no further comment regarding any allegations of fault or misconduct alleged by either party in these divorce proceedings." The document also states that both parties have agreed to resolve all issues in their divorce and wish the other well "in all future endeavors." Both Sara and her ex-husband have asked for privacy after each made numerous accusations about the other in public court filings. Sara will reportedly pay her ex-husband an alimony sum of $500,000, which can be broken up into 10 annual payments. The court also ruled Sara would keep the family’s home in Tennessee, while her ex-husband has been awarded the couple’s two homes in Oregon. In a recent interview, Sara says she and her three children are doing fine these days, and just trying to move forward. She’ keeping busy with her new Greatest Hits CD, due out Oct. 9. Sara’s personal life has been in the spotlight since she filed for divorce from husband Craig Schelske last October, during her run as a contestant on ABC's Dancing with the Stars. She removed herself from the competition after filing for divorce. Sara says that in spite of her situation, or perhaps because of it, she can laugh about the video for her current single "As If," noting that she wishes it were as easy to find the right guy as it seems to be in the video. Sara says she isn’t dating because she is either on the road or home with her kids, but she’s quick to add that she's "perfectly fine the way things are right now." Fine, except perhaps for her son Avery’s challenging homework. Sara says that the second-grader's assignments are hard, even for her. “Are you kidding me? I was just learning to tie my shoes,” she says.
