Rodney Atkins released his second album, It's America, on Tuesday as a follow-up to the hit record, If You're Going Through Hell. The CD is a collection of songs about America and the people who live in it and keep the country running. "It's America" is the first single off the album.

"That song is representative of the rest of the album -- of the subject matter, what [I'm] singing about and the things that matter," Atkins told GAC's Suzanne Alexander during GAC Nights: Live from Nashville. "It's of the very essence of right now where this country is, [and we] actually caught some flak coming with a single called 'It's America' at a time when we were kinda figuring stuff out."

Atkins feels that the song represents everything America is and will be, no matter happens. The song is at No. 5 on the charts currently, and Atkins hopes for the album to have a good showing as well.
