4/2/2008 Lisa Ann Schleipfer Robbins Nashville signed Country Music newcomer Joshua Stevens this past Thursday.  The singer-songwriter’s debut single, “Rock ’n’ Roll and Pensacola,” will be released May 5. Stevens, who placed fourth in last year’s Country Music Television competition, Nashville Star, has spent last summer and fall with the Nashville Star tour. In a press release Tuesday Stevens said, “It has been so great to find a label that is taking chances on new talent and that really believes in what I do.  Independent labels are really making a mark, and with the music business changing as it is, I feel like this is the perfect home for me and my music.” The Iowa native has a good start.  Danielle Peck and Canadian Country Music artist Michael Carey both have recorded Stevens’ songs.  The Fox motion picture Kissing Jessica Stein featured his song “That Could Happen To Us.” Robbins Nashville is the recently launched Country Music division of the 12-year-old independent label Robbins Entertainment, which is headquartered in New York. Sony BMG distributes Robbins Entertainment and Robbins Nashville.
