Country Music legend Reba McEntire has lent a little magic to the Brooks & Dunn hit "Cowgirls Don't Cry"; she recorded a verse on the track, and then gave a live performance on this year's Country Music Association Awards. The track shot to No. 17 this week on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.Although it can be said that McEntire is inspirational, she knows she wasn't the only inspiration for the song. "Ronnie and Terry McBride wrote the song, and they said they had their daughters and me in mind when they wrote it," McEntire related. "All three of us are redheaded cowgirls," she told GAC.com.Ronnie Dunn called McEntire and asked if she wanted to sing the last verse. "I grew up a cowgirl, so it really speaks to me. Ronnie and Kix are my really good friends, and I never turn down a chance to sing with them or hang out with them," she explained. The friends first worked together a decade ago, with "If You See Him/If You See Her."In addition to collaborations, McEntire released a 50 Greatest Hits CD this fall and was recently added to the mega-concert RodeoHouston to take place in the Spring of 2009 in Houston.
