Rare Ray Charles, Johnny Cash Duet to be Released

A nearly forgotten duet with legendary performers Johnny Cash and Ray Charles will be released by Concord Records on a ten-track album that is set to hit stores on Oct. 26.

　

Two of music’s most soulful voices got together nearly 30 years ago to record Kris Kristofferson’s, “Why Me.” The track was expected to be a part of a 1981 CBS Records album but was left off the project and has gone almost unheard until now.

　

The album, Rare Genius: The Undiscovered Masters, will feature several unheard tracks from Charles, including “A Little Bitty Tear,” written by Hank Cochran, who has also had songs cut by George Jones, Patsy Cline and Elvis Presley.

　

The upcoming album will be the third posthumous release from Charles.
