6/30/2008 Amber Garner Alabama lead singer Randy Owen is writing his autobiography “Born Country”, with the help of Allen Rucker. Rucker has co-authored books with the likes of Gretchen Wilson and Big and Rich. The book gives a look into Owens life and the evolution of a young impoverished boy to a successful country star. Owen talks about his family and growing up a share coppers son. He formed the band Wild Country with cousin Teddy Gentry and later Alabama. He also highlights getting signed with RCA and being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. The book will be published by Harper One, an imprint of Harper Collins Publishers, says countrystandardtime.com. “Randy Owen is a legend. We are thrilled to be apart of the telling of his story which is, in itself, a very important chapter in the larger story of country music,” said Mark Tauber, Publisher at Harper One. The book gives an honest look at Owen’s life telling about the passing of his father right before Alabama exploded onto the national scene. “I really didn’t have a chance to mourn,” Owen writes. “Some of the most successful days I had as an entertainer were some of the saddest days for me around that time.” The book and Owen’s first solo album, “One on One” will be released nationwide Tuesday, November 11. “This book was really something important for me to do for my family. We touched on every segment of my life—it’s really a microcosm of my life. God had had a big plan for me and guided me through the good and the bad.”
