This July 4th, CountryHound takes a look back at a patriotic contribution by Country Music legend, Johnny Cash.Ragged Old Flag, released in 1974 on Columbia Records, was a political-oriented album unlike Cash's other releases, and addressed many hot topics of its time period.  Songs on the album discussed issues such as the environment, Watergate, a disillusioned middle America, unemployment, prison, homelessness and more. Cash wrote the album entirely himself, except for "I'm a Worried Man," which he penned with wife June Carter Cash. The title-track, released to radio as a single, was a classic spoken-word tribute to patriotism. Although it did not chart very high, "Ragged Old Flag" became widely popular, and still is among fans today.
