5/20/2008 Lisa Ann Schleipfer Eddy Arnold on the Radio Record label RCA Nashville wanted to honor the late Eddy Arnold, and celebrate what would have been his 90th birthday last week, by asking Country radio stations to play the song "To Life" from Arnold's 2005 album After All These Years. The request has turned into a poignant farewell to the Country Music legend, as "To Life" makes its appearance on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart. This historic event makes Eddy Arnold the only artist to have achieved chart success for the past seven decades. This also gives Arnold the distinction of being the artist with the longest span of Country Music charted singles, from "Each Minute Seems a Million Years" on June 30, 1945, and 63 years later, "To Life." During his career, Arnold enjoyed record sales in excess of 85 million albums, and he earned 92 Top 10 hits—more than anyone in Country Music history. Ranked as Billboard’s number one Country artist of all time, Arnold had 28 chart-topping singles, which spent 145 weeks at number one—an accomplishment unmatched to this day.
