In the July 16 issue of Newsweek, Grand Ole Opry star Porter Wagoner, 79, admits, "I used to run around a lot with women; I enjoyed that. I'm not really serious with anyone right now. I got some grandkids, and I'm kinda into them." Relaxing in his dressing room before taking the hallowed stage to celebrate his 50th anniversary as an Opry member, Porter tells writer Brian Braiker, "You can always tell if a guy knows where his roots are. I like the real thing." The article, focused on aging artists and their place in contemporary country music, also includes comments from Billboard magazine's Wade Jessen, as well as country legend George Jones and actor/musician Billy Bob Thornton. Porter Wagoner recently released the critically-acclaimed album, Wagonmaster, produced by Marty Stuart.
