Country superstar Tim McGraw has no intentions of ditching his singing or acting career anytime soon, but that isn’t keeping him from toying with the idea of entering politics eventually.

He has always been interested in helping out the needy and has made known his outrage about the slow response by the government to the Hurricane Katrina victims.

CNN interviewed McGraw on Wednesday about his involvement with Outback Steakhouse’s “Thanks for Giving” campaign, a program which supports U.S. troops. During the interview, CNN asked about his potential political career.

"That would be something that would be a long way away. You never rule anything out," Tim told CNN with a grin. "This is a great country, and it's given me so many opportunities and given me such a wonderful life that somewhere down the line, if I feel like I can give back, I certainly wouldn't say no to it. But it would be a while and my kids would have to be grown."

McGraw referred to Bill Clinton as "the best president we ever had." President Clinton returned the compliment with a few of his own.

"I think he's got it. The Democrats need candidates whom people can relate to in a personal way, people who understand their lives and their concerns and share their values. And I think that's something Tim can do without even pretending," the former president told Esquire Magazine.

According to Esquire, McGraw was recruited a few years ago to run for the U.S., but the father of three passed up the chance in order to continue his singing career.

Growing up in Louisiana certainly influenced McGraws interest in politics. "Anybody who knows anything about Louisiana knows that [politics] is kind of a pastime in Louisiana," Tim told The Boot. "I think it's a noble calling to be a politician, a public servant -- I mean, there are people who do good jobs and people who don't do such good jobs. But that would be something I'd be interested in way down the road. I've got a lot more time in my career, I think, before I can think about that."

McGraw is set to perform at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo on March 7. He will hit the road in April to begin his "Emotional Traffic Tour."
