Phil-Phil-Rising Country Music star and former American Idol contestant Phil Stacey is releasing his new single titled “Old Glory” just in time for the Fourth of July holiday. "The song is really just an allegory for this country," Stacey said. "It's using the flag to represent our nation, which is exactly what the flag is. The flag has been tattered, turned and burned, but she hasn't lost any dignity. It's just like our country." Stacey was inspired to write the song long before his Idol days while he was serving in the United States Navy. After playing it with a Navy band and most recently performing it at the Grand Ole Opry, the song has gained popularity, according to the tennessean.com. “Phil has been playing this song during radio visits, his live shows and even a few weeks ago at the Grand Ole Opry where he got a standing ovation,” says Lyric Street VP Promotion Kevin Herring. “The song always gets a great reaction and we’ve fielded a lot of calls from our friends in radio asking where they can get the song.” His self-titled debut CD was released in April 2008.
